Obituary for George Joseph Papa

George  Joseph  Papa
Papa, George Joseph – age 88, a native of Thibodaux, Louisiana and resident of Maynardville, Tennessee, was born November 3, 1925 and died on April 2, 2014. He was a World War II veteran and served with the 42nd Rainbow Infantry Division in France, Germany and Austria. George retired from the U. S. Postal Service after thirty-three years of service as a mail carrier. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ilsa Pachta Papa; parents, Vincenzo Papa and Justine Tardo Papa; brothers, Charley, Sam and Vincent Papa; and sisters, Anna Mae Papa Totina, Sarah Papa Gabb and Lucille Ann Faucheaux. He is survived by his brothers, Angelo (Jutz) Papa, Nicholas (Nick) Papa, Louis (L. J.) Papa, and Michael J. Papa, Sr.; sister, Rosemary Papa Bourgeois; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel, 228 Main St., Maynardville, Tennessee. There will be a prayer dismissal at 8:00 p.m. by Reverend Jimmy Davidson. The funeral service and interment will be at a later date in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
