Clifton, Bernard “Bernie” – age 80 of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 29, 2015. He was a member of Valley Grove Missionary Baptist Church for many years. Bernie was a United States Army Veteran and a faithful UT and Chicago Cub fan. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Clifton; parents, Raymond and Nina Clifton; grandchildren, Kayla Clifton and Lakin Gray. Bernie is survived by daughters, Susan Wilkerson and Sharon Gray; son, Ray (Sharon) Clifton; brother, Bruce Clifton; sisters, Barbara Corcoran and Lucy Owenby; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Knoxville for a 10:30 a.m. graveside service. Reverend Burney Hutchison officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by Tri County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
