Cathy,

My precious friend, it has been years since I have last seen you. I still have our picture we took together at work with Santa Claus, at the Christmas party. When I learned about you going home, my heart dropped. I remember one of our last conversations before you retired. You said, "When I retire, I am laying on the couch and not leaving it!" Cathy, I hope this was true! It was truly an honor to get to know you and work with you. You lived your hyphen well, "1952 - 2020". Job well done Cathy, you have been such an example of what it means to serve and take care of your fellow man (woman). I know your family will miss you dearly. You left them with a wonderful legacy of you. Love you always, Jama

Cathy Bailey was patient beyond words and kind beyond belief. When I first entered the nursing field, she took me under her wing and showed me how to care for people, how to manage my time wisely, and how to work hard – Lord, she was the hardest working person I ever met. Whenever we had precious downtime on those nightshifts, we would always talk about family and faith. I would get caught up on what was going on with Wayne, Travis, Crystal, Rylee-Bug, and Kathy; what the latest progress on her quilt was; and she would always give me a lesson learned from her many years of caring for others. I always listened intently, because she was like a second mom to me and her family an extension of mine.

She helped me get through LPN training and cheered me on as I made it through RN school. Through the entirety of it, she was there with me in the wisdom she gave me - always help your patients *and* your coworkers; work as if your family, patients, and coworkers depended on you, because they do; remember to be patient and kind, because you were once new to this work, and someday we all will be sick.

Life happened and I did not get to speak with my Mamaw Cathy as much as I wanted these past few years, but her teachings and kindness will always be with me. I will miss her so much, but I know she is in a better place, free from pain and suffering. I hope I make her proud.

Cathy will always be remembered by my family I. We love you Cathy Bailey.
