Herschel John Sharp – 94 of Maynardville, passed away July 30, 2023. He was a member of Haynes Flat Baptist Church in Claiborn County since 1942. Herschel was a 50-year member of J. C. Baker Lodge 720 in Maynardville, a 33 Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite in Knoxville, life member of American Legion Post 212 of Maynardville and past state commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Tennessee from 1998-1999. He had a great love for his family and country and served proudly and honorably in WWII.

He is preceded in death by wife, Edith after 62 years of marriage; father and mother, Albert and Ida Sharp; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Ralph Cooper, Ruby and Ed Davis; nieces, Mary Ann Cox and Kathy Davis; and nephews, Glenn Davis, Jr. and Reverend Larry Cooper. Herschel is survived by nephews and nieces, Michael and Teresa Cooper, Doug and Cathy Cooper, Jeff and Pat Cooper, Glenn and Jeannie Davis, Alma Cooper, Pam and Darrell Perry; and many great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2023 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel followed by Masonic Services before the beginning of the funeral service with Reverend Robyn Ryder officiating and music by Judy Manning. Family and friends will meet 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Trinity to proceed to Effler Cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service with Military Rites provided by Tri-County Honor Guard.
