Obituary for Jimmy Ray Cox Jr.

Jimmy Ray Cox, Jr.– age 52 of Maynardville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 15, 2023. He was of the Baptist faith. Jimmy was employed by CCSE, where he was the parts manager for 24 years. He loved University of Tennessee sports and was an avid dirt track fan and owner of the #8, a late model car.
He is preceded in death by his wife; Mary (Cooper) Cox, father; Jimmy Ray Cox, Sr, paternal grandfather; Willie Cox; maternal grandparents; Albert and Jessie (Collins) Lamb. Jimmy is survived by his parents; Michael and Vickie (Lamb) Riffey, daughters and sons-in-law; Kendra Atkins (Aaron), Abigail McCarter (Austin), granddaughter; Brooklyn McCarter, stepdaughter; Carli Gibson, Grandmother; Opal Cox, Sisters; Julie Cox, Holly Riffey Smith and Bridgette Meyers, Nieces; Morgan Wilson (Lee) and Kelsey Smith, Nephews; Tucker Woolard and Bryson Smith, great nephews; Jay and Reed Wilson, several aunts, uncles and cousins and many special friends too numerous to name who share special memories. Special thanks to Michelle Bolden, former wife and a very special friend and Mae Maness, former mother-in-law who both cared for Jimmy in his last days. He will also be missed by his faithful companion, Skipper.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2023, with service to follow with Reverend Jimmy Davidson and Reverend Eddie Muncey officiating in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be October 19, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Cox Cemetery on Hickory Valley Road. Family and friends will meet at Trinity at 12 noon to go in procession to cemetery.
