Obituary for Johnny Ellis Garrett

Johnny Ellis Garrett, Jr. – age 64 born March 8, 1957 of Maynardville, former owner and operator of Johnny’s Transmissions, Tazewell Pike, Corryton passed away May 13, 2021 His passions were his family, grandchildren, hot rods, and cars. He loved the lake, Applebee’s and friends. It was always 5:00 o’clock somewhere and let’s pop a top any day, any time.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, Walter Garrett and Margaret Thomas and Raymond and Ardelle Pratt. Johnny is survived by wife of 38 years, Angela Garrett; daughters, Misty Garrett, Brittney (Steven) Tallent, Amanda (Keith) Dalton, and Ashley (Dustin) Garrett Powell; parents, Johnny and Juanita Garrett; sisters, Cindy (Wayne) Shaver and Kim (Mike) Reeser; brother, Scott (Kesha) Garrett; grandchildren, Miranda Lee, Gaven, Gage and Lucas Tallent, Emarie and Paxton Dalton, Dahlia, Arabella and Ezmay Powell; several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 21, 2021 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral to follow with Reverend Rector B. Wyrick and Reverend Larry Robert Brooks officiating. Family and friends will meet 12:30 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Trinity Funeral Home to go in procession to Clear Springs Cemetery, Mascot for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. At Johnny’s request, all fellow hot rod friends are asked to drive their cars in procession.
