Obituary for Marvin Wayne Jones

Marvin “Wayne” Jones – age 54 of Maynardville, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 13, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He will always be known for the strength and courage he showed while fighting this disease and his heart of gold. The love for his family and friends was never ending. Wayne had a love for baseball, Nascar and music. He loved watching his son, Evan play baseball. The bond they had was indescribable. Wayne graduated from Central High School and went on to graduate from Roane State. He spent many years working in the family construction business and worked as a district manager for Waffle House where he made many friends until he retired.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty “Pap” Jones; grandparents, Clara “Granny” Jones; and Earl “Red” and Launa Jones. Wayne is survived by his son, Evan Jones (Andrea) and the boys he loved like his own, Tanner (Alexis) Starrett and Tucker Boyd (Hannah); parents, Frank and Tonya Jones; sister and brother-in-law, Jeannie and Barry Davis; nieces, Madison and Makenzie Davis; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins; lifelong friends, Stan Cook, Arthur Reid and Danny Long. The family expresses a special thank you to his home health and hospice nurses who made his days brighter and especially to his dad, who spent countless days making sure he had everything he needed.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 20, 2021 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The service to follow with Pastor Scott Cagle officiating. The family asks that memorial donations be made in Wayne’s name to UCHS Baseball, c/o Josh Orrick, 150 Main St., Maynardville, Tennessee 37807.
