Obituary for Peggy Lou Bates (Sharp)

Peggy Lou Sharp Bates was born July 13, 1936 and passed away December 22, 2021 due to pancreatic cancer at the age of 85. She was a member of Cedar Ford Baptist Church in Luttrell. Peggy was a 1954 graduate of Horace Maynard High School, cheerleader for four years and captain her senior year, and a member of the school paper staff.

She is preceded in death by husband, Curtis “Curley” Bates; parents, Walter and Edna (Monroe) Sharp; sisters, Lillian Ruth Sharp and Judy Sharp Walker; brothers, Richard “Ricky” Sharp and John O. Sharp. Peggy is survived by son, Lloyd “Monty” and wife Patti Bates of Braselton, Georgia; grandsons, Patrick and wife Alicia Bates of Jefferson, Georgia and U S. Marine Staff Sgt. Adam and wife Michelle Bates of San Angelo, Texas; great grandchildren, Caleb, Ansley and Tinley; sister, Mary E. (Sharp) Hill; along with several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Brenda Coppock and Geri Conner

The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The service to follow with Reverend Eddie Muncey officiating. The processional to Sharp’s Cemetery on Corryton-Luttrell Road in Luttrell will immediately follow where Peggy will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband of sixty-four years.
