Reverend John Wayne Capps passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 at his home in Maynardville, Tennessee at the age of 79. He was a faithful member of Hines Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed working in the food pantry there. John was a 50-year Mason, past-Master and Secretary for 29 years at Corryton Masonic Lodge 321.

John is survived by his devoted wife of sixty precious years, Helen Mae (Pierce) Capps; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and William F. “Bill” Slaughter, son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Julie (Eldridge) Capps; grandchildren, William Samuel “Sam” Slaughter, John Andrew Capps, Cathleen Conover Capps, and Davis Michael Capps. The family wish to express a special thank you to SunCrest Home Health & Hospice and his nurse, Jennifer.
