Shelby Jean (Haynes) Mitchell – age 85 of Knoxville, formerly of Liberty Hill, passed peacefully surrounded by her family at home Wednesday, April 24, 2024. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

She is preceded by parents, Clay and Nelle (Jones) Haynes; grandparents, Jacob and Eva Jones; brothers, James “Tom” and Johnny Haynes; sisters, Linda Nicely, Donna Kitts; sister-in-law, Diane Haynes; brother-in-law, DeWayne Christian; niece, Tracy Haynes; and nephew, Tommy Jo Haynes. Shelby is survived by husband of 65 years, William “Darrell” Mitchell; daughter and favorite son-in-law, Shanna and Victor Cox; granddaughters, Amanda (Justin) Hutson and Meagan (Michael) Harris; great grandchildren, Autumn, Jace, and Jossalyn Hutson, Boone, Brier, Brynlee, Ethan, Nevaeh and Teagan Harris; sisters, Sue (Foy) Beeler and Phyllis Christian; brothers, Jackie and Jerry (Donna) Haynes; several nieces and nephews; and special sister-in-law, Dorothy Chadwell and brother-in-law, Gene (Ella Jean) Mitchell.

The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2024 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The service to follow with Reverend Donnie McGinnis officiating. Family and friends will meet at Trinity 11:45 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024 to go in procession to Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service.
