Obituary for William Earl Loy Sr.

William Earl Loy, Sr. – age 87 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children, at North Knoxville Medical Center on Sunday, January 30, 2022. He was a member of Alder Springs Baptist Church. Earl also served several terms as Sheriff of Union County.

He is preceded in death by spouses, Mary Evelyn Loy and Ruby “Kate” Loy; parents, Grade and Myrtle Loy; brothers, Ralph, Bill and John; sisters, Bernice Coppock and Lou Ella Evans; grandson, Cody Davis; and brother-in-law, Ermal Breeding. Earl is survived by children, Judy (David) Rigsby, Kathy (Steven) Irick, Earl Jr. (Sharon) Loy, Teresa (Burt) Davis, Jeannie (Gary) Moore, Reneé (Mark) Bills and Earlene Loy; grandchildren, Amy (David) Rush, Jeremy (Leslie) Rigsby, Jonathan (Lindsay) Rigsby, Ethan and Kelly Irick, Andrea (Rodney) Hensley, Laura Floyd, Casey (Leslee) Moore, Lindsay (Adam) DeBusk, Emily and Amelia Bills and Brooke Black; great grandchildren, Tenley, Roan, Zane, Finn, Evelyn, Blake, Dylan, Avery, Hayes, Reece, Rhett, Landon, Aubrey and Lincoln; loving and caring companion, Melissa Bailey; sister, Sue Breeding; brother, Wayne Loy; brothers-in-law, Carl Coppock and Swan Evans; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service to follow with Reverend Jimmy Davidson and Reverend Kyle Shell officiating. Family and friends will meet 9:45 a.m., Thursday, February 3, 2022 to go in procession to New Loyston Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service.
