Obituary for Jack Lowell Gunnell Sr.

Jack Lowell  Gunnell Sr.
Jack Lowell Gunnell, Sr. – went home to be with the Lord and his children on January 1, 2016. Jack was born on June 28, 1931 in Kokomo, Indiana to Lawrence Gunnell and Helen (Miller) Lantz. He is preceded in death by his wife, Judith; father and mother, Lawrence and Helen; daughters, Carlene Roberts and Linda Marie Gunnell; infant son, Brian Gunnell; and sister, Shirley Mason. Jack was a proud Marine from 1947-1951 and served in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Roadway Express Trucking after 22 years of service. Jack enjoyed travel, visiting Texas and Florida to fish. Many enjoyable evenings were spent around the fire with his wife, Judy and good friends. He enjoyed hunting in Wyoming with Gene and Jerry Jumper. He loved being surrounded by his children and especially during the holiday season. He loved his little dog, PeeWee. Jack was a past member of the Kokomo VFW and the Trucking Teamsters Union. He is survived by daughters, Brenda (Ray, Sr.) Lock of Maynardville, Patty Jarvis of Kokomo, Indiana; sons, Larry (Pat) Gunnell, Jack, Jr. (Connie) Gunnell, Mark Gunnell, Kevin Gunnell and David (Tondra) Gunnell, all of Indiana. He is also survived by step children, Debbie (Keith) Horner, Bill (Rhonda) Stidham, Tim (Marie) Stidham; sisters, Nelda Higgins; and half-brother, Larry Carl. A receiving of friends will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Funeral Home, Maynardville. A receiving of friends will also be held in Kokomo on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jeromy Lock officiating with the interment to immediately follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
