Obituary for Joann Wallace (Tharpe)

Wallace, Joann Tharpe, - born January 2, 1937 passed away January 9, 2014. She was a member of Little Valley Baptist Church. Joann graduated from the National Business College and retired from the FBI after 37 years of service. She received many meritorious awards. She was a member of The Former FBI Employees The East Tennessee Chapter. Joann is preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Mossie Sexton Tharpe; grandparents, John and Lottie Sexton and Will and Martha Oaks Tharpe; brothers, Glen Ray (Pauline) Tharpe, Sr., Don Herbert (Jeanna Lou) Tharpe and John Wesley Tharpe, Sr.; sister, Hazel Ruth Tharpe Warwick; nephew, Glen Ray Tharpe, Jr.; and niece, Alice Tharpe Richardson. She is survived by husband, J. D. Wallace, Sr.; son, Danny Wallace; grandson, J.D. Wallace III; sister-in-law, Mary Tharpe; nephews, Edgar Warwick, Carlie Warwick, Donald Tharpe and John Wesley Tharpe, Jr.; nieces, Susan Tharpe Shanks, Kathy Tharpe Williams, Beverly Tharpe Dominio, Mary Lynn Warwick Carey and Carolyn Warwick Langley; special friend Joy Ogle Carter; and former daughter-in-law Lisa Hurt Wallace. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend Ken Lutton of Miller’s Chapel Methodist Church.
